Prior to joining my coaching team, Brad was the manager for a tourist hot spot in Ludington, Mich. Following a trip to Las Vegas for my “How to Run a Profitable Restaurant” workshop, he learned the importance of systems through direct implementation of the systems in his own restaurant. He saw incredible results from implementing one system – the labor budgeting system.
Brad’s restaurant increased sales that first summer by $30,000, but they increased profit by an astounding $97,000, but Brad didn’t stop there! Brad went on to implement several more systems including a training program which decreased turnover and strengthened his human resources function. As more and more system’s were checked off Brad’s list his business became more profitable, more efficient, and a better place for employees to work.
When looking back on his experiences with my systems Brad remembers, “The hardest thing for me was just to start something. For people to break out of their routine and comfort zone is always a challenge, but that’s why I’m excited to be in a situation that enables me to help other restaurateurs do this.”
Brad’s restaurant savvy comes second nature for him; he grew up trailing behind his restaurant-manager parents and reported for his first day of work shortly after he was legally old enough. After high school he attended Western Michigan University before accepting a culinary internship at Walt Disney World – the ultimate example of systems in action.
Through his training with Disney, Brad witnessed firsthand the impressive power of systems as everything Disney is based on them. It’s the only way to manage the hundreds of thousands of employees, operations of hundreds of products and the thing that makes Disney so special – the experience it offers.
