About David Scott Peters
David understands the needs of the independent restaurant owner. He grew up in his family’s successful restaurant and catering business in Linwood, N.J. Today, through Smile Button Enterprises, Peters teaches independent restaurant professionals the same business practices that make franchise operations so strong — staff training, solid financial controls and SMART systems. He does this through development of restaurant operations training materials delivered in various formats, including print, online, audio, motivational workshops and coaching sessions. Also critical to the success of his clients is Peters’ relationships with restaurant industry professionals, vendors and manufactures who share his vision to train and inspire.
Peters’ expertise and experience was gained over 20 years of working in restaurant and franchise operations. Most recently he served at the executive level for Famous Sam’s, Inc., a restaurant/sports bar chain with system-wide annual revenues in excess of $30 million. As chief operating officer (COO), he was credited with skillfully managing the turnaround for the chain, taking it from near-bankruptcy and turning it into a thriving enterprise, ultimately resulting in the company’s profitable sale. His development of accelerated training programs for new franchise owners significantly improved first-year operations for each new Famous Sam’s location. In his time with Famous Sam’s, Peters also served as an independent consultant to the franchise’s corporate office and to individual franchise units, providing operational support, financial analysis and management training.
